Black Stone Intervention

“During a routine clinic held at a partner building, I saw a resident who was looking for some of his friends. I encouraged him to have his vitals checked. He stated he was afraid I would find something.”

“He finally agreed and his stats were elevated including his blood sugar. It was over 500! Since diabetes ran in his family, I encouraged him to go to the ER. He declined because he didn’t have insurance. I stressed the importance of medical intervention and reported the situation to the building’s service coordinator. She also urged him to go to the ER, which he finally complied. He was treated and released with medication." "Since that day, I have seen him around the building and he is always thanking me for urging him to get checked out that day. He always tells me, “You saved my life!”
